The Diamond Cutter Sutra

A Teaching of the Buddha Shakyamuni

The Diamond Cutter is a sutra taught by the Buddha Shakyamuni, which is endowed with all of the immense beneficial qualities and transformative power that come from his speech.  It is a teaching that came about through an inquiry, that is, in the form of questions and answers between the Buddha Shakyamuni and his student, Rabjor.  The three primary questions that form the discourse are:  How does one abide within Mahayana?  How does one practice Mahayana? And, how does the mind fully uphold Mahayana?  In response to each of these questions, the Buddha gave the teachings that comprise this sutra.  In summary, this is a teaching on vipashyana, or profound insight, the way in which a practitioner cultivates correct view, given in a profound and complete teaching.

To listen to teachings on it, to contemplate its meaning, to meditate on it, or even to merely read it, will bring freedom from many inner, outer, and secret obstacles.

The format of this meditation retreat will be alternating between meditation practices with Rinpoche and receiving instruction. It is a teaching on practice that will apply to everyone, from beginners to advance practitioners. All are welcome.
